Ditch that Script!

dscn0444.JPGIs your training up to par? Are you still being told to use scripts when calling people? Ditch those scripts and just get down to the truth when you call people, especially other networkers. The majority of people out there want honesty and even shock value instead of the weak scripts that every telemarketer is using out there. 

Do you know when you ask people how they are doing as soon as you call someone you don’t know, it triggers people to immediately start thinking, “What does this person want from me?” That person goes into defense mode and automatic resentment towards this stranger on the phone. 

This really gets my goat when trainers or upline tell you to use a script when calling fellow networkers because that’s what they told us. I think back and cringe about how stupid I must have looked to these top marketers who I called back then. They couldn’t get off the phone fast enough!

There are always going to be key questions you ask newbies when you call them such as,

“How much money on a monthly basis are you looking to bring in?”

or “Do you have experience working for yourself?” because you want to know if there is a fit for a business partnership.

But when you’re calling another serious marketer, especially one who has found a home in another company. Call to just make a contact and develop a relationship because you just don’t know where it might take you in months or even years down the line. This industry is like any other in that sense it’s all about who you know. Having a strong alliance with other powerful people in the industry gives you that power as well.

This is what your trainers should be teaching you. It’s insulting to professional networkers when the person on the other end of the phone is attempting to bully you with their upline on a three-way call. It could mean the difference between building slow and week or building strong by attracting a whole team who may be looking for a home in the future. Hmmm, which path would you choose?
