Conventions - Face to Face for the First Time. . .

I recently flew to Tampa for a 3-day convention for a company we joined a couple of months ago. It was exhilarating and exciting to actually meet people face to face we have only known through telephone and computer for the last couple of years. In this day and age, especially if you are an internet marketer, it’s sooo important to attend live events like conventions because if you gravitate towards the internet you’re most likely NOT attending hotel meetings and house parties.
A convention or leadership summit can often put a new perspective on things for you and either give you that warm fuzzy feeling or not. Last year I attended a company convention and it was first class all the way and I was able to spend time with business partners who have become close friends and even see some family I haven’t seen in more years I would like to count.
But despite the fact it was a high-caliber event with entertainment, trainings, dinner, etc… I wanted to be excited about it but my stomach had butterflies. There was still something missing, my close friend belonged there, but I didn’t. I struggled internally with being in a place because one of my closest friends was there despite the fact I felt lost.
This recent convention wasn’t as extravagant because it’s a newer company but I felt the sense that I was home. It hit me hard that I was this time in the right place for my life. The atmosphere felt like family and the mindset and vision are on the same wavelength as Brad and I.
You see, it’s not necessarily the bells and whistles that make the convention for most people, it’s the heart and the future vision. Have you ever had a relationship with someone online or on the phone and then met them in person and discovered they were totally different? That’s what a face to face encounter can do for you .
So I recommend when you are focused on a new company and still unsure if it’s the new home for you, attend one of their conventions as soon as you can. It could make or break you. Sure the wave of excitement will pour over you and you will feel an exhilaration of the crowd’s excitement. That’s when you follow your gut because it most likely will tell you the truth.
Cheers to your success! Kelly
