devins-1st-camping-trip.JPGBeing a mom can often leave you with doubt if you’re doing things right because you want to do the best for them and unfortunately children don’t come with instructions.

Although, I am with my children almost 24/7 because I work from home and care for  other children along with my own children, I often wonder,
“Am I doing enough?”
“Did I work on the computer too much today and not give them enough of my time?”
“Are they getting everything they want and need?”

I work from home because I chose to stay home with my children while still earning a living, it was my choice. Now, there will always be an ongoing debate  on whether it’s better for a parent to be home full time or send them to childcare while both parents work outside of the home.

I think it’s everyone’s perogative of what choice they want to make, despite the fact some say they have no choice. I actually know single moms who are very successful working from home and others who work outside of the home and have very loving relationships with their children. So who can say what’s best for you and your children?

You and only You can.

Yesterday, as I was preparing supper, Devin and Livi in usual fashion burst into the kitchen (BTW, we had all been sick for the last two weeks and been in our home for four straight days as well because the temp had dropped below 30), looking for milk, snacks before supper, basically all of my attention while I was trying to get supper ready and I was feeling, well a little overwhelmed to say the least. ;) Just then, my now 4-year-old son said, “Mama, I am really happy.”

I dropped everything and I could feel the warmth rise up, my eyes start to tear and a smile spread across my face. I whizzed around and I gave him a big hug.

It reminded me of something my mom and other moms as well have repeatedly said to me, “If they are happy and well adjusted, then you’re doing everything right.” That is when it hit me, “Yep, I made the right decision and it’s all worth it.”

Cheers! K.
