A WAHM (Work At Home Mom) has the best of both worlds! She is making money from home and spending time with her kids.

Do you have what it takes to join the ranks of thousands of successful Work At Home Moms across the world?

If you answered ‘yes’ then you are probably right. But before you jump in the deep end, spend some time thinking about these five simple questions to get you started.

Do you know who you are?

There are millions of different ways of making money from home. In order to find the one which will work best for you, you need to know who you are. What is your past experience? What qualifications do you have? What are your natural abilities? interests? talents? Are you creative? Administrative? Do you need to be around people? Or are you happy working alone?

You have something to offer that no-one else can. The most successful work at home moms have discovered what that is and made a business out of it. You can too.

Do you know what you want to accomplish?

You want to become a WAHM. Yes! But when you think about making money from home do you want to earn enough to cover the ‘extras’ (the ballet classes or summer camps) or do you need to earn a second salary – or the main salary for your family?

Do you want to build a business? Or is it a bit extra? It is so important to know what you want to accomplish as a WAHM before you start out. You might not get there straight away – but you know what you are aiming for.

Do you know where you are going with this?

Do you know how to set targets for yourself? Do you know what your short term, medium term and long term goals are ? Do you know what the first step is, to get where you want to go with this? (usually research, research and more research!)

If it is important to know what you are heading toward, it is vital to know where you go next. You will not achieve your goals by wandering hopefully in the general direction of them. Have a plan! Where do you go next?

Do you know when you are going to fit it all in?

You might be asking yourself this already. How does a WAHM manage to build a business – however small – around the diapers, the washing, the cooking and the homework?

It is possible! But you are really going to have a steep learning curve in time management as you start!

It gets easier as the kids grow, but can you plan in sections of time to work on your business during the week (or preferably the day)? It needs to be thought about before you start – especially if you are investing money as well as time.

Do you know whyyou want to be a WAHM?

Work at home moms are the women who don’t have to drop their baby off at daycare every morning, who can be there to read stories before the afternoon nap, or to pick up their kids from school and who can afford to do it without feeling guilty that they should be ‘at work’. Most moms look at ways of making money from home because they want to be there with their kids.

And when the going gets tough – because work at home moms work hard you will need to keep in mind why you are doing this, rather than sitting in a company office downtown. You will need to keep yourself motivated.

And I think maybe it is the ‘why?’ that will most enable you to succeed as a WAHM.

What Exactly is a Wahm?

A WAHM is a new breed of mom who manages to stay home and take care of her family while earning an income on the side. Work at home moms have resulted from the highly competitive world we have now as well as the increasing cost of living. These Moms are in a quandary because while wanting to take care of their families, they cannot however give up their money-earning capabilities.

Most work at home moms have been career girls at one time or another. But this was before they found out that they can stay home and become successful in business while they work from home. Most WAHMs are super moms who can be the best homemakers and also the best business people.

Some Mothers have decided to look for work that allowed them to telecommute. However, most WAHMs have decided to go for the best home business ideas they can find and take it from there.

A WAHM is not your ordinary mom because she can already be earning an income while cooking food for the family on a Sunday morning. She may be going to a swimming party with her kids but she also tows all her products and brochures, hoping that she can somehow find the time to talk to potential clients while watching over her kids.

Some WAHMs can start their day cooking breakfast while alternately checking their mails at the computer. Some manage to update their websites or confirm an order from a client while preparing dinner. There are Work at Home Moms who fetch their kids at school while renewing old ties with friends who also have kids in the same school.

These mothers are actually women innocently clad in their casual wears with two or more kids in tow. However, their looks can be deceiving because right inside their bags may be some jewelry or beauty products about to be delivered or shown to potential customers.

A WAHM can be found in the groceries purchasing the family’s monthly food allowance but her mind may already be plotting the next home party plan she is going to host for her high school batch mates. You may think she is hosting the party for socialization sake but think again-she is actually hitting two birds with one stone. That is, reuniting with former classmates and introducing her direct business to them.

Ask any child with a work at home mom and he will tell you how un-boring life can be with a Mother that works at home. Her schedule may be hectic but she will always find time to push her direct selling business while making sure her family gets the care they deserve.

So if you ask me what a work at home mom really is, I will tell you frankly. A WAHM is a home maker, a direct business enthusiast, a multi-tasker, a marketing manager, and everything that she needs to be to make sure that her family is well taken cared of while she earns on the side to keep her family financially stable.

Blog Traffic Tips

Forums are concentrated communities of highly targeted prospects that are all interested in the same things.

Why are they a great place to market your home business?

1. Forums are HIGHLY targeted.

2. You can learn great new tips and tricks on any particular topic.

3. Your links remain over time and increase in number with every one of your posts.

The biggest reason that forums are a great place to market your business is that people that click through to your ads will already be familiar with affiliate marketing or internet marketing because those are the types of forums where you’ll be promoting your business.

If a prospect from a home business or affiliate marketing forum sees value in what you’re promoting and joins your business they’ll already know how to get off to a fast start without your help.

You’ll be promoting your business through what’s called a “signature box”. I don’t get thousands of hits a day, but I probably get 20 – 30 highly targeted hits on average. With forums, that’s enough. It’s a constant flow that slowly grows over time.

If you post a comment on a highly viewed thread hundreds of prospects in a single day may see your signature box advertising your lead capture page.

I want to make it very clear that you should not post a comment just to get your signature box seen. This is SPAMMING and it’s distasteful.

The other forum members will know what you’re doing and they will remember you as being someone that tries to take away from the community instead of trying to add to it. Only add to the discussion if you have something of value to include otherwise just read, learn, and wait for your turn to chime in.

How do you find forums?

Just go to Google and do a search for home business forums or network marketing forums, you get the idea. Save yourself some time, if it looks like no one has made a post in a forum for the past month it’s probably not worth your time.

Here are a couple I visit regularly: wahm warriorforum

First you just register as a member of the forum, set up your “signature box”, and then simply participate.

Like I said before don’t SPAM! Chime in when it’s your turn and don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you’ve had a burning question that you haven’t been able to find the answer to – forums are the best place to ask that question.

Find 5 forums in your target market and register yourself as a member. Commit to making a least three posts per day per forum from here on out.

Signature Tip: Always send people to your personal capture page that will grow your own list!

If you’re a stay at home mom on a budget, you’ve probably explored a few avenues for working from home. Who wouldn’t enjoy the freedom of making money online? Unfortunately, many websites out there charge fees and deliver very little in return. As a mom on a budget, you can’t always afford to sink money into business opportunities or affiliate marketing. Sometimes, just a little work on the side will do you just fine.

That’s where freelance work comes in for many stay at home moms. Most people think of writers and technical skills when they think of freelancing. However, there are many opportunities for moms that can do small administrative tasks, such as proofreading or answering emails. You don’t have to have a full-fledged administrative business to get in on the action, either.

So how can you get in on the action? Here’s a few great places to start out:

Webmaster Forums

There are many website forums that hire people for one time tasks – but they’re actually not the freelance job boards you may be thinking of. Many internet marketing forums are very receptive to moms that want to do a little work on the side. Check out the Warrior Forum or Digital Point Forums by Googling them, register with your user name and password, and find their service posting section.

Translation Agencies

Many translation firms hire freelance staff to proofread documents translated from other languages into English. Typically, you will need to provide a resume and a proofreading test to be added to their freelance pool. Once you’ve established yourself, you’ll be in line for more assignments. Try to apply with as many agencies as possible to keep a decent work flow coming.

Other Virtual Assistants

Virtual assistants need assistance, too! Often they outsource their “overflow” work to a trusted administrative professional. Take some time to look into the services they offer and let them know what kinds of tasks you can help them out with.

As a stay at home mom looking for freelance administrative work, being flexible with working hours and enthusiastic with your potential employers is key. Don’t be discouraged if work comes slowly at first – make a simple plan for marketing your skills, plan your time wisely and focus on short-term objectives.

Check the WAHM websites and other resources, such as email discussion lists, where other work from home moms hang out. Many moms there actually outsource their “overflow” work, so make sure you offer up assistance every once in a while and keep engaged in discussions. Offer to help catch up with emails, do internet research, help with typing, formatting, and desktop publishing. If you’re great with resume layout and can polish up an out of date resume, don’t forget to offer that skill up, as well. It’s easy to overlook your own talents when you’ve been practicing them for years.

When you first start freelancing, building your business is more important than earning a lot of money. As your business clients grow, you’ll be able to gather referrals and make valuable connections in the virtual admin industry. You may even end up starting a virtual assistant business of your own!

Choosing the right work-at-home-business

Choosing the right work-at-home-business

When you are considering working from home, there is a set of decisions that must be made. First, you must decide whether or not working at home is right for you. Next, you need to consider what type of work at home job you will be doing. There are many opportunities for Wahms out there, both offline and off. Having a successful Wahm career starts with evaluating your own skills and requirements in a job and then finding the right match.
Sometimes the best place to start with your Wahm career is where your out of the home career ended. Many women find that they can become independent contractors in the field that they previously worked in. You can use your previous work experience as a launching pad for your Wahm career. Some of the ways to use your experience to your advantage are: finding a company that hires people in your field to work from home, using your previous experience to become an expert writer in your field or starting a business related to your previous field.

However, some women look at their Wahm careers as a way to break out of their old job. If you do like to try something completely different, there are plenty of opportunities for entry-level work as an independent contractor. Many of these jobs deal with telephone or online customer service. When you work as a customer service agent from your home, you just need a reliable Internet connection and a working phone. Companies also hire medical transcriptionists, data entry professionals and virtual personal assistants to telecommute.

If you want to start your own business, the opportunities are very vast. You can start with a direct sales company and sell products from an established brand to friends and neighbors. You will make commissions through your sales and also off of recruiting other people to sell the products. There are hundreds of direct sales companies that offer everything from aromatherapy products to candles to cooking supplies.

Another option for starting your own business is offering a service in your community. Day care center operators, florists, professional organizers and hairdressers all have the option of working at home, among many other professions. Of course, starting a business in your community normally means that you have had some experience in that field. However, there are some small business ideas that can be started without much experience at all.

Many women turn to the Internet for a source of at home income. The World Wide Web offers a plethora of job opportunities. You can offer your services online as a freelance web designer, writer or virtual assistant. You can also start an online store that sells products that you make yourself or have the rights to resell. Many Wahms establish their businesses online by using one of the popular auction sites, like eBay. Still others find a home in internet marketing, by directing web traffic to a website and then recommending certain products and services.

Decide first what type of job you do like to do and then work from there. If you are truly a people person and need to get out each day, direct sales or a local service business might be right for you. If you are the type of mom who lives online and is comfortable with the Internet, try finding a job or starting your own business on the web. If you like the comfort of having a weekly paycheck, look into telecommuting positions.

Once you have decided what category of job you do like, do some research on what it takes to be successful at that type of business. If you feel like you are drawn to one particular business or company, then sit on your decision for a week and see how it feels. Imagine what your life will be like as you take on the duties of that job. Most importantly, be realistic with yourself about how much time you can devote to your business. Finding the right match is not hard when you thoroughly consider your options.

Making money from home

Making money from home

Some pointers on how to make money online:

- One of the most popular ‘home business’ jobs is affiliate marketing. This is usually done through businesses which offer affiliate programmes that you can join up with. Most established companies have a bevy of recognisable brands to offer to affiliate marketers. Marketing other peoples’ goods and earning a fee is the simplest way to get going.

 - Making a site is relatively simple, that’s only half the work involved. It’s also important to drive traffic and learn how to market your site. The problem with working on the internet is that 99 percent of these money-making programs offered are a waste of time and (your) cash.

 - Don’t only click on every ad you see to find revenue resources; try to find networked groups of WAHMs (work-at-home moms) who have found success in earning cash on the internet or off and ask them for tips. They can give you some ideas about which programs are actually worth putting time and money in. Investigate message-boards and forums. Some forums allow users to post links in the body of a message. Be sure you read all the forum policies carefully prior to trying this, or you may be banned for spamming.

 - The difficult part of associate marketing is sticking with the business until it starts to make a profit. You find advice spammed all over the Web, but how much of it can you believe in? Web scams exist in their thousands, each one designed to bait suckers with the promise of easy riches.

 - Internet success is fairly easy; it just calls for a plan. Most webmasters just try anything and everything, haphazardly. You can contact a great variety of customers and communicate with anyone in the world, speedily. You can use your email opt-in list to send updates about your special offers, products and newsletters; whatever you think your consumers want.

- If you have a site set up, you need to design it. All your site needs to include is a review page about your products with client testimonials stating that each product works well and is worth buying into.

 - Commit time to testing out different strategies in order to discover the ones that work best. Select a business type that you find agreeable and that you are passionate about. Then do some research. Set up your own blog or website. Build a mailing list. Replicated affiliate sites won’t provide that for you. Start with what you know.

 - The more surfers you attract the greater your ability to get more sales. Upload content-rich pages on each one of your sites and include keywords that will climb to the top of search-engine results and increase traffic volumes. Research in advance, don’t just react to circumstances.

 - Buy a domain name that’s very similar to to the affiliate marketing product you’re attempting to publicise. Don’t, however, infringe on the copyright of a brand name. That may annoy the brand owner.

 - When your business is up and running, if your product isn’t getting sales, move on and try another. Do not hang about hoping that it’ll sell; the odds are it won’t.

 - Internet marketing requires brand name exposure. Content on your site needs to be search engine optimised. Get your brand all over the Web in order to generate useful traffic. Targetted traffic is what you’re aiming for; if you get a viral video on Youtube about hang-gliding, but you’re selling finance, you won’t make much cash off it.

I hope these few basic pointers will be of some use to you in your online marketing enterprise.

Working As A Home Based Transcriber

Home-based work

Home-based work

When looking for secretarial, data entry or word processing jobs in the newspaper, one may think that typing skills are no longer important, since these jobs are in very short supply. However, there are thousands of people all over the country that are making money through typing. This is because they are home based transcribers. What is a home based transcriber? A home based transcriber is a person who converts audio into a written format. They do all of this through a telecommuting, home based setup, where work is submitted via email or through an FTP on their company’s website.

So, how do these lucky individuals land home based transcribing positions? Basically, they type fast, have an eye for detail and keen hearing ability. In fact, of these skills, a keen hearing ability will probably get you further as a home based transcriber than even typing speed. When you hear in a keen way, you must be able to listen to the words that are not being spoken in situations where speakers are mumbling or have heavy accents. You must also be able to figure out what is being said when the audio quality is poor. Additionally, you need to be able to distinguish between different voices. While this may sound easy, when you transcribe long documents that have dozens of speakers, it can be difficult remembering who exactly is speaking, unless they have something about their voice that is prolific.

Home based transcribers must also be very disciplined when it comes to having the drive to continue doing work that can be dry and boring. However, there are some home based transcription jobs that offer a little bit more exciting content. These are usually the ones where home based transcribers must type up court hearings or police correspondence. Dryer jobs are the ones where home based transcribers type up company briefings, certain types of news media and political correspondence.

No education is required to become a home based transcriber, if what is being transcribed is general in nature. If the content is medical, it is recommended a transcriber get a certificate in medical transcription, though it is not required. It also helps if a person has excellent English skills and is generally well-educated. This is because as a home based transcriber you may come across lots of fancy vocabulary and industry jargon.

To find home based transcribing jobs, it is best to search freelancing boards such as http://Wahm.com. Sites like this offer a whole section of contact information for some of the most popular home based transcribing jobs. Alternatively, a person could simply enter “home based transcriber” complete with the quotes into a search engine. The listings that would come up would relate completely to home based transcription, since the quotation marks tell the search engine to exclude any results not relating to it.

In conclusion, if you type fast and want to make money for your ability, think about becoming a home based transcriber. It is not the most exciting job in the world, but the work is steady and the pay tends to be good. In addition, home based transcription is one of the most widely accessible at-home jobs you can find.

Article Marketing Basics and Benefits

Article Marketing

Article Marketing

Article marketing is a great, low-cost way to get the word out about your business and/or website. There are many different article directories to which you may submit your articles. And while they are all free to submit to, the cost is going to be your time.
It will take time to craft your articles in such a way that they are easily readable and that they provide value to people looking for information in your niche. It will also take time to join the directories and submit your articles. The best plan of action in this regard is to join several of the top-rated directories and submit multiple articles to them, as opposed to joining a lot of directories and submitting only a few articles to each.
You will need to write quite a few articles in order for this to be truly beneficial for you. A good goal to shoot for is to write 30-50 articles per niche. The articles don’t have to be extremely long, although, you don’t want them to be too short, either. A nice-sized article for directories will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 words. Each article you write should relate in some way to your business.
For example, if you sell soap, you could write about the best way to make soap in your own kitchen. Or if you are a life coach, you could write an article about keeping yourself motivated. Each one of your articles will have a resource box, or bio box, at the bottom of it, telling a little bit about you and also linking to one or more of your sites. When people choose to publish your article on their sites, they must keep that resource box intact, and the links clickable.
And therein lies the gold for you. It is really a win-win situation for you ‘and’ the publisher. They get great content from an expert to publish on their site, and you get links back to your site. Another important thing that you get from article marketing, if I can back up a little bit, is the chance to ‘establish’ yourself as an expert in your field.
The more that you can show people that you really know what you are talking about, and the more information that you are willing to share freely with them, the more people will truly see you as an expert. Another benefit to article marketing is that your prospective customers can really get a feel for you. They start to feel as if they know you. This helps to build up trust, and the more that people trust you, the more likely they are to actually ‘become’ your customer. You just need to make sure that your articles are not sales letters. Write your articles with the intention of helping people solve problems, and you will be as good as gold in their eyes. Your resource box will lead them to your sites, if they so choose, and that is where you can do your selling.
Anyone with a presence online can use article marketing to drive traffic to their sites, not just online retailers. For instance, it is a great way for bloggers to gain attention on other areas of the web than they normally do. Non-profit groups, like animal rights websites, could even use it to get more eyeballs, and hopefully hearts, on their causes! Article marketing can help anyone to gain credibility, visibility, and build their online presence.

Home based business skills

Home based business skills

Think about the myriad of work-at-home opportunities,  could you be overlooking one important thing ? You have skills that you can turn into a career. Although it’s easy and sometimes tempting to sign up with a company or to begin selling a product, there are many skills that each of us bring to the table that can help us to create our own successful at-home enterprises.

Before you settle on a work-at-home job, carefully examine your skill set and determine if you can make a solid at-home work opportunity out of your skills. Though there is no harm in joining an already successful company, many moms are more interested in starting their own businesses. If you are that kind of mom, consider your skills first so you choose the right at-home business for you.

 Money

Have you ever worked as a cashier? What skills did that require? If you had to reconcile your cash drawer, you have some experience with bookkeeping. You also likely have some customer service skills. Many women work at home as bookkeepers or as assistants to accountants.

Office skills

If you have ever worked in an office, you might have a long list of beneficial qualities that would help in an at-home job. These include phone skills, customer service skills, software experience and perhaps even some marketing or public relations skills.

Office skills and experience (as well as any training you might also have) can be used in a variety of ways with at-home jobs. Many moms work at home as virtual assistants, for example, which require customer service skills, software experience and basic office training.

Other moms with office skills can work at home for a local business. To save money, local businesses are more likely these days to hire people to work from home to handle calls, mail and basic clerical duties.

 Technical skills

Those who have worked in graphic design and website design are perfectly positioned to take advantage of the work-at-home job market. That is, you can easily turn your graphic design and website design skills into an at-home business. Your services will likely cost another business less than using an in-house designer and if you provide the same ? or better ? quality, you can create a niche for yourself that others might not be able to easily fill.

Other technical skills that might be useful for at-home businesses include computer repair, specific software application training and other skills that you might have learned in a previous job, in college, or that you took specific classes for.

Entertainment

Many moms have had success turning their entertainment skills into an at-home business. Your ability to put on a beautiful party can be turned into a business that puts on tea party birthdays for young girls. Or you might start a catering business from home. Or you could become a personal chef. Some moms start successful home businesses that are borne out of their theater or singing experience.

The key to turning your skills and experience into a successful home business is to be honest about your skills. Know what you can do and what you are weak at. Perhaps you know that you can run a lucrative web design business, but you can’t handle money. Maybe you can hire another WAHM to do your bookkeeping for you. In that way you help yourself and another mom at the same time.

Make a list of the skills you have and those you might like to acquire and from that list, create some ideas for your at-home business. You might be surprised how much you bring to the at-home business table.
